WORLD LEADING SURGEONS, TELECOM, REGULATORY AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS TO CONVENE FOR FIRST-EVER TELESURGERY CONSENSUS CONFERENCE
The Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS) proudly announced that they will host the first-ever Consensus Conference (3-4 February 2024), where the world’s top surgical and robotic technology leaders will discuss the key issues for creating a safe path forward in the rapidly developing area of telesurgery.
Over two information-packed days, global leaders will share ground-breaking research, clinical experiences, and engage in collaborative discussions to help shape the future of telesurgery and the obvious humanitarian benefits.
“In the last two decades innovations in robotics and telecom technology have evolved significantly, making low latency telesurgery technically viable,” stated Dr. Vipul Patel, Executive Director of SRS. “My team recently visited China and Japan and were able to successfully demonstrate telesurgery up to 2500km. However important issues around surgical training, credentialing, reliability, patient safety, ethical and legal issues have yet to be fully explored. Our Consensus Conference will explore these advancements, concepts, and questions in a way that is manageable, feasible, and protects patient safety.”
Leading technology and thought leaders from countries around the world will be represented at the Consensus Conference, including the Telecom, world bank, healthcare insurers, surgical robotics companies, hospital administration, and healthcare credentialing and policy makers.

The Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS) was founded on the fundamental principles of education and collaboration, related to the complex issues of robotic surgery. SRS is a global organization, with each continent having its own board and input into activities. It is the pioneering spirit of members and the founding Board that makes the Society a success. SRS provides international collaboration on multi-centric studies, database collection, fellowship training and funding support, and seeks participation from residents, fellows and young faculty embracing robotics. This diversity allows SRS to adapt to emerging changes in technology and provides an innovative forum for improvement of clinical and academic initiatives internationally.
