On Saturday June 14, 2025, medicine crossed a new frontier.
Dr. Vipul Patel, Executive Director of the Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS), performed the first-ever FDA-approved Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) human clinical trial of a transcontinental robotic telesurgery originating in the U.S. to Africa.
This groundbreaking procedure marks a major leap forward in global healthcare access and the future of surgical innovation. With over 17,000 kilometers of fiber optic connectivity, the surgery demonstrated the practical and humanitarian potential of robotic technology in bridging geographic divides.

CANCELLATION POLICY
